The fastest growing Master Planned Community in the country! Summerlin is home to several fine schools, including private schools, religiously affiliated schools and new elementary, junior high and high schools.

The Academy of Nevada Ballet Theatre is located in the Donald W. Reynolds Cultural Center. Students train with the professional dancers of the Nevada Ballet Theatre. The center is home to 300 students and dancers and is expected to grow to 2,000 during the next several years. Programs are offered for children, teens, adults and pre-professional ballet. It is one of the most significant cultural programs in Nevada.

Summerlin Medical Center is one of the city's finest medical facilities, offering the latest in medical technology and education programs. The hospital is equipped with more than 200 private rooms, with more than 1,300 physicians on staff. The hospital offers The Birthplace, a progressive maternity center, outpatient surgery center, urgent care center, cancer and cardiac center, and many other new and innovative medical programs. The center also offers seminars and special programs to consumers dealing with health related issues.

There are currently 15 major parks and more than 45 neighborhood parks throughout the community. Parks are situated in the center of each village and each is designed to accommodate a specific focus, including soccer, tennis, softball, and swimming. Currently residents enjoy Hills Park, Pueblo Park, Trails Park, Crossing Park, Arbors Tennis & Play Park, Willows Park, Oxford Park and Cottonwood Canyon Park. Under development are the New Park in the Willows and the Arbors Sports Park. Among the special features of these parks are outdoor concerts, theatrical productions, sand volleyball, basketball, picnic armadas, nature areas, Little League, lighted tennis courts, water slides, fountains, full-size gymnasium, Olympic-sized pool and softball fields. Summerlin's unique resident activities include a walking/jogging path that winds through the entire community.

The new Veteran Memorial Leisure Services Center is a 45,000 square foot recreation and cultural facility that is city-owned and operated. Its amenities include 20,000 square feet of classroom and workshop space, a full-court gym, fitness center, and dance/aerobics studio and game/play room. The center offers dance, yoga, martial arts, senior activities, fitness programs, arts and crafts and gymnastics.

One of the most unique and interesting features of Summerlin is its Summerlin Trail System. It is designed to link the community's villages, neighborhoods and parks, and will eventually encompass more than 150 miles. Currently there are more than 40 miles of the system that consist of village trails, regional trails, natural trails and street-side trails. Village trails are often located in natural arroyos and man-made corridors, designed to give walkers a rest from traffic and noise. Regional trails are part of the proposed valley-wide trail system and will link the bureau of Land Management land in the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. These trails are cooperative efforts with Clark County, City of Las Vegas and the Howard Hughes Corporation. They are designed for non-motorized uses. Natural trails, designed for hiking, will connect from undeveloped areas of Summerlin to the planned regional trails.

Summerlin offers residents many educational choices. There are 9 public schools and 7 private schools within the community. The Meadows School Nevada is the state's first nonsectarian college preparatory school with students from preschool to the 12th grade. Other private schools are the Milton I. Schwartz Hebrew Academy, Faith Lutheran Jr./Sr. High School, Merryhill Preschool, Alexander Dawson School and St. Elizabeth Ann Secton Catholic Elementary School. And the Community College of Southern Nevada is building a new campus in Summerlin, with courses in Accounting, Computers, Sociology, Philosophy, Math, Political Science, to name just a few.

Summerlin is home to more than a dozen houses of worship representing ten different religions. Among those now are St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Summerlin Evangelical Lutheran Church, Temple Beth Am, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Grace in the Desert Episcopal Church, Summerlin Community Baptist Church, Desert Springs United Methodist Church, Red Rock Community Presbyterian Church, Hindu Temple, Temple Beth Sholom, Faith Community Lutheran, New Hope Lutheran, Sun City Community Church, Shadow Hills Baptist Church, to name a few.

The Summerlin Council is a non-profit community association designed to promote the social and recreational welfare of Summerlin residents. The council supports the community's cultural and recreational activities, planning year-round special events for residents of all ages. There are more than fifteen special interest clubs for community residents.

Two new villages have completed, with custom and semi-custom homes, as well as production homes beginning in the $450,000 range. The Paseos and The Mesa are ideally located, just west of the new I-215 Beltway, offering beautiful mountain views, high above the Las Vegas valley. The Paseos includes 14 residential developments, a new elementary school, 2 churches and a 15-acre community park and trail system. The Paseos village features a southwestern theme with portals, arches, arcades, courtyards and barrel tile roofs. The Mesa, located at the southwestern edge of Summerlin, will be set against a ridgeline running along the western boundary of the community. The Mesa will include 497 acres, with 16 residential parcels, a new elementary school, private high school, 2 churches retail/commercial properties. It will also have an 18-acre part located on the tip of one of the ridges. Both of these communities are perfectly located, close to Red Rock and Bears Best Country Clubs, as well as the new Summerlin Centre, with its fine shopping, dining and entertainment venues.

Summerlin is currently home to eight golf courses, some of which have been designed by Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer. TPC at Summerlin is a PGA Tour Tournament Players Club stadium course with an 18 hole, private championship course. TPC at The Canyons is an 18-hole daily fee course nestled in The Canyons village in Summerlin.

Bear's Best Las Vegas in The Ridges, recently opened and features replications of signature holes from Nicklaus courses throughout the United States and Mexico. It is a daily fee course designed to accommodate corporate retreats. Red Rock Country Club will offer two 18 hole golf courses, one if which is currently open. Siena Golf Club, located in the age-qualified village of Siena, is an 18 hole executive course designed by Curley-Lee Schmidt. And there are 3 golf clubs in the age-restricted community of Del Webb Sun City Summerlin.
